Purpose:
Description: "Gauze Tones", discovered by Rijke. Glass tubes with pieces of wire gauze in lower half. Gauze heated by long flame burners. Tone emitted when pipe lifted off flame. Two pipes of slightly different lengths give beats. Tone ceases if pipe held with its length horizontal.
