Ball Falling into Cup

Reference: M21
Category: Mechanics
Purpose: Demonstrates the "absence" of the graviational force in the reference frame of a free-falling system.
Description: A mass hangs from a spring over the edge of a cup at the top of a wooden pole. Raise the pole vertically and release. Because the mass becomes weightless in free fall, only the spring force remains and the ball will be pulled into the cup immediately when the system begins to fall.
