Purpose:
Description: a) Diode valve. 4V battery for heating filament. Rectified power supply 1 or 2. Variable resistor of about 5ohms. Show that no current flows until cathode is heated, and that plate must be positive for current to flow.
b) Large demonstration planar diode. Use special transformer supplied with the diode. Connect to CRO, or use the transparent meters projected by Leitz Prado.
c) Double diode. Use 4V battery and AC tapping of isolation transformer of rectifier 1. Show half and full wave rectification and smoothing.
