Purpose: Demonstrates the concepts of torsion and the modulus of rigidity.
Description: An iron rod is clamped at one end and twisted at the other by the torque provided by a hanging load. A pointer on the rod indicates rotation. Start with a half-kilogram hanger and add and remove about four 1 kg weights. (Don’t try to pass the elastic limit.)
