Purpose: Shows metling of ice to due pressure.
Description: Tall stool with a wide slot in its top board. Special holder for block of ice (7.5cm high, 3.5cm wide). Use loop of thin piano wire and a load of about 5kg. check that the wire is not jamming against the sides of the slot or the sides of the ice block. (Use a wooden spacer if necessary). Start near beginning of lecture so that the "intact" block can be examined at the end after the wire has passes through it.
