Purpose: Demonstrates thermal radiation.
Description: Using thermopile and galvanometer as detector, a wire coil mounted on an insulator as source. The latter is usually heated to a just visible dull red heat, using a variac to control the current. a) Reflection: use large aluminium sheet. b) Refraction: large 60deg prism kept in box c) Absorption and transmission. Plates of various materials as well as a water cell.
