Thermal Conductivity

Reference: H31
Category: Heat
Purpose: Shows the varying thermal conductivity of different materials.
Description: To show differing conductivities of wood and metal. Cylinder covered by single (glues) sheet of stiff white paper. Play Bunsen burner over midsection. Charring occurs only on one side. On removing the paper, reason is apparent. Right half of rod is wood, which doesn't conduct heat away. Left half of rod is brass, which conducts heat well.
