Purpose:
Description: a) A motor is mounted with its axis vertical. Use this to rotate a horizontal platform carrying a Perspex cylinder of water. The water surface assumes a parabolic form.
b) A ping-pong ball is filled with candle-wax and placed in water. The disc is rotated on the end of a hand-drill. The ball is either attracted or repelled by disc, depending on its sense of its rotation.
